Ashghal: Temporary closure on roads surrounding roundabouts on Al Khafji Street

The Public Works Authority ‘Ashghal’ announced a temporary closure of one lane on the roads surrounding Al Hizm and Environment Roundabout and parts of Al Khafji Street as shown in the attached map. The closure will start on Tuesday 3^rd of November 2015 and will last for 6 months. During this period, two lanes will remain open in all directions on the two mentioned roundabouts, while accesses to schools, residential and commercial institutes remain open. 

Works are part of phase two and three of Al Khafji Street development project. Phase two includes converting Environment Roundabout to a signal-controlled intersection and widening Al Khafji Street from Environment Roundabout to Al Shamal Bridge, and from Environment Roundabout to phase one of the project (Jelaiha Intersection) to become four lanes instead of three, in addition to developing and widening Environment Street. 

Phase three, which is the final phase of the project, includes converting Al Hizm Roundabout to a signal-controlled intersection and widening Al Khafji Street from Al Hizm Roundabout to become four lanes instead of three for a distance of 350 metres towards Al Jamia Signals, and from Al Hizm Roundabout to connect it with phase one (Jelaiha Intersection) to become four lanes instead of three. Ashghal will install road signs to advice motorists of the closure. The authority requests all road users to abide by the speed limits, and follow the road signs to ensure their safety.
