In order to complete the reconstruction of Al Kharaitiyat Interchange on the North Road, the Public Works Authority ‘Ashghal’ will close the intersection to traffic on Sunday, 25 December, 2016, for a short period of two months. The temporary diversion, designed in consultation with the General Directorate of Traffic, will involve the entire intersection entrances and exits besides Wadi Al Salamya Street in the west and part of Al Ebb Street in the east.
The detour will facilitate the revamp of Al Kharaitiyat Interchange, as part of North Road Corridor Enhancement project. During the road change, motorists can access the surrounding neighbourhoods and Al Shamal Road and vice versa via the local approaches as well as other three major nearby junctions, Izghawa Interchange, Al Kheesa Interchange and Umm Slal Mohammed Interchange, as illustrated on the attached map, without any change to traffic flow on the main North Road. In turn, Ashghal will install traffic signage, requesting road users to abide by speed restrictions and follow traffic instructions for their safety.
