The Public Works Authority, ‘Ashghal’ announces that it will close the 1.4 kilometer long eastbound lane (towards Olympic Roundabout) on Al Rayyan Bridge and convert the other half of the carriageway to accommodate two-way traffic (one lane in each direction). The diversion will be implemented on Thursday 5 January 2016 and last for six months in coordination with the Traffic Police Department.

During this period, road users travelling from Dukhan towards Olympic Roundabout (known as Sports Roundabout), can either use the designated eastbound lane on Al Rayyan bridge, or follow the diversion signs towards Al Rayyan Roundabout were they will be able to take the second exit and continue their journey onwards as shown on the attached map. The traffic diversion is required to allow for the construction of a new flyover as part of Ashghal’s Al Rayyan Road Upgrade Project. Once completed, the flyover will connect the 22 February Street with Al Rayyan Road (west) and enable free-flowing traffic. The Public Works Authority requests all road users to abide by the speed limit of 50 kph for the length of the diversion, and follow newly installed traffic road signs to ensure their safety.
