Ashghal wins the highest number of awards in MEED GCC Quality Projects

The public Works Authority 'Ashghal' won the "MEED" GCC Quality Awards for Projects during the 7th MEED conference held in Dubai on May 3rd 2017.

Ashghal’s awards were received by Mr. Mohammed Masoud Al-Marri- Director of Infrastructure Affairs, Mr. Lahdan Sagar Al-Mohanadi, Director of Buildings Affairs, and Mr. Abdul Mohsin Hassan Al-Rashid Building Projects Department Manager. Ashghal was the most participating entity in terms of number of awards received by a single entity for its projects. The awards included a Sustainability award for Doha North Sewage Treatment Works project, Healthcare Project of the year award for Medical City Fit Out project, Road, Bridge and Tunnel Project of the year award for Salwa Road, and Water Project of the year award for Doha North STW.

Ashghal wins the highest number 2 [qatarisbooming.com].jpgMEED awards are considered ones of the most prominent infrastructure Projects awards in the GCC region, in which many ministries and government entities participate from the GCC countries, in addition to many consultants and international construction companies that deliver mega projects in the GCC. Participating Projects are evaluated based on international standards by a specialized committee that includes a group of the most renowned specialists in their areas in the region and in other countries. The awards do not only recognize the construction elements of the project delivery but also consider the value and quality of a project throughout its entire life cycle, from the design concept through to engineering and construction and its wider contribution to society and to the environment.

Worth to be mentioned that the competition on  MEED Quality Awards for projects 2017 was the toughest across the past seven years, with participating projects increasing by 45% from last year and quality standards increased for evaluating projects compared to previous years. On the regional level, many ministries and government entities won MEED Quality Awards for Projects, such as Dubai Airport, Dubai Roads and Transport Authority, the Ministry of Youth and Sports in Bahrain, the Muharraq Model Youth Center, The General Authority of Civil Aviation of Kingdom of Saudi, Qatar Gabbro terminal and other companies and government entities.
