The Public Works Authority, ‘Ashghal’, will close the entry and exit of Al Wajbah Street at Al Wajbah Junction, connecting to Al Rayyan Al Jadeed Street, to enable the completion of road and utility upgrade works on Al Wajbah and Al Hamd Street.

The proposed road closure has been designed in coordination with the General Directorate of Traffic. It will commence on Thursday 20 July 2017, and will be in place until the first week of October 2017. As shown on the attached map, access to and from Al Rayyan Al Jadeed Street from Al Wajbah Street will be diverted via Al Hamd Street and Al Shafi Street.

Upgrade works include the installation of a new signalised junction to control traffic flow between Al Wajbah Street and Al Rayyan Al Jadeed Street,  road paving works to upgrade Al Wajbah Street and double lane capacity on Al Hamd Street from two to four lanes in each direction. In parallel, the existing drainage systems will also be improved. ‘Ashghal’ advises that there will be no reduction in the number of lanes on the Al Rayyan Al Jadeed Street and requests all road users to abide by the speed limit, which is 50 kph, and follow newly implemented traffic road signs to ensure their safety.
