ASTAD signs MOU with Qatar Society of Engineers

ASTAD signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Qatar Society of Engineers (QSE) to identify mutual business opportunities in research, training and development.

The MOU was signed on behalf of ASTAD by Chief Commercial Officer, Engineer Abdulaziz Al-Mulla and QSE Chairman, Engineer Ahmad Jassim Al Jolo during a conference organized by the Qatar Society of Engineers (QSE) titled ‘Building Capabilities in Engineering’ at the Intercontinental Doha Hotel on Tuesday 3 October 2017. The agreement lays the groundwork for bilateral cooperation that aims to boost professional engineering development throughout Qatar.

On the occasion, ASTAD Chief Executive Officer, Engineer Ali Al-Khalifa, said: “We aim to support QSE’s local initiatives including engineering specialized conferences, awareness seminars, activities, training courses and the establishment of an engineering magazine specialized in QSE’s activities.” He continued: “This reflects our continued advocacy for achieving excellence in engineering for the State of Qatar. ASTAD and QSE are well versed and highly experienced within the field of engineering and this MOU will support its continued progression and advancement.”

QSE Chairman, Eng. Ahmad Jassim Al Jolo, said the QSE uses innovative engineering practices to successfully contribute towards the urban development of Qatar and stated: “This MOU is a stepping stone that will further enhance collaboration between both firms. It reiterates our commitment to enriching relations and seizing new opportunities and partnerships for the Qatari engineering field and supports our aim to build the spirit of cooperation between engineers which will contribute to urban and industry development in Qatar and ultimately, raise the standards of engineering in all sectors.

During the conference, ASTAD Chief Human Capital & Shared Services Officer, Nasser Al-Hajri, delivered a presentation that shed light on ASTAD’s training and development programs that aim to support new graduates by providing them with the necessary skills and experience in the construction and project management sector. He discussed ASTAD’s early integration of sustainability into the training which provides insight into the economic, social and environmental value of sustainable buildings. The conference promoted the development of engineering practices in Qatar and highlighted the different roles that all parties play in its growth.

ASTAD has managed and delivered some of Qatar’s most complex building and infrastructure projects in various sectors of the construction industry. They have covered Education, Healthcare, Sports, Commercial, Residential and Transport, bringing together all the necessary components required to build a booming nation with a bright future to look forward to.

The Qatar Society of Engineers is a non- profit organization established in 2007, under the patronage of the Ministry of Administrative Development, Labor and Social Affairs. QSE is a member of the Gulf Engineering Union, Arab Engineers Union and the World Federation of Engineering Organizations that strives to enhance professional engineering development throughout Qatar by promotion, raising standards, engineering regulations, protecting rights and representing engineers on local, regional, arab and international levels.
