Ashghal hands over 10 Mosques to the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs

The Public Works Authority ‘Ashghal’ has completed the construction of a new set of projects for the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs (Awqaf) in different parts of Qatar, to include 10 masjids (daily and non-Friday prayer mosques) and jamie’s (daily and Friday prayer mosques).

Engineer Abdul Hakim Ahmed Al-Hashemi, Head of Public Project Section, Buildings Project Department-Ashghal, says that Ashghal delivered 10 Mosques in different parts of the state in the second half of 2017, with an estimated cost of QR 60 million. The constructions go in line with the highest quality standards, with designs inspired from the Qatari heritage. The projects were built in different parts of Qatar, to incorporate Eastern Al Murra, Umm Al Seneem, Al Wakra, Muaither, Al Rayyan, Fereej Bin Abdulaziz, Fereej Bin Mahmoud, Old Al Ghanim, Al Rufaa and Al Maamoura, he adds.

The Head of General Project Section points out that the completed projects involve masjids (daily and non-Friday prayer mosques) and jamie’s (daily and Friday prayer mosques, made of up two or three levels to accommodate from 500 to 3000 worshipers, a prayer hall dedicated for women, along with ablution (Wudu) facilities and accommodation for the imam and the muezzin, the guard. The Public Works Authority had delivered other 12 projects for the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs (Awqaf) in May 2017 in areas of Umm Ghuwailina, Old Airport, Fereej Abdulaziz, Al Gharrafa, Fereej Bin Mahmoud, Al Wakra and Al Hilal.
