The Public Works Authority ‘Ashghal’ will close temporarily the southbound lanes on the Orbital Road for a distance of 10 kilometres, starting from Ras Laffan Road crossing over Al Shamal Road. Also, the traffic on northbound lanes on Al Mazrouah Road leading to Al Khor Interchange on Al Shamal Road.
The traffic change, designed in coordination with the General Directorate of Traffic, starts Tuesday midnight, 17 April 2018, with a brief operation period of 5 days. The detour will enable the construction of the New Orbital Highway and Truck Route project. During the diversion, motorists coming from Ras Laffan Road on southbound Orbital Road can use the Al Khor Link Road in place of the Orbital Road through Al Khor Interchange on Al Shamal Road and continue straight to the Orbital Road, as illustrated on the map.
Also, the motorists coming from the Orbital Road to Al Khor Interchange via Al Mazrooah Road can continue their trip through the Orbital Road instead to Ras Laffan Road, then turn right to the Al Khor Link Road, then turn right again to Al Khor Interchange on North Road, as shown on the attached map. The Public Works Authority will install road signs advising motorists of the changes on the road. ‘Ashghal’ requests all road users to abide by the speed limit, which remains at 80 kph for all sections of the Orbital Road and the adjacent roads, and follow the road signs to ensure their safety.
