Ministry launches project to recycle construction waste

The Ministry of Municipality and Environment has launched a project in collaboration with three private companies to recycle construction waste available in huge quantity at Rawdat Rashid to produce primary materials.

The project aims to recycle about 41 million tonnes waste in five years to produce primary materials including aggregates, fillers that are used in laying foundation of roads and buildings. The project also aims to get rid of the heap of construction waste to meet the requirement of the urban development of the country. Nine companies qualified for bidding, out of which five companies submitted their proposals. Finally, the Committee awarded the project to top three companies at three locations on April 17. The recycling project will help rehabilitate Rawdat Rashid environmentally as any other types of waste will be taken to Mesaieed area from January, 2019.
