The Public Works Authority ‘Ashghal’ announces the closure of the roundabout at the intersection of Al-Diwan and Palestine streets (known as Saida Roundabout).
Traffic between the roundabout and Al-Diwan Intersection, as well as part of Al-Rayyan Road, will be diverted to a parallel temporary road with two lanes in each direction, in addition to a right-turn towards Souq Waqif Waqif. The closure will start on Friday, 1 March 2019 and will last for three months, in coordination with the General Directorate of Traffic. During this period, part of Palestine Street will also be closed at its intersection with Al-Diwan Street. Traffic heading from Al-Diwan Street to Palestine Street can use Al-Firdous Street, to Muslim bin Aqeel Street, into Palestine Street.
On Friday, 8 March 2019, traffic on Qala’at Al-Askar Street (leading to the Corniche) will also be diverted into a parallel temporary road with two lanes in each direction, with a right-turn towards Al-Khaleej Intersection, as shown in the attached map. The diversion aims to enable expansion and upgrading works on Al-Diwan Intersection and installation of new traffic lights, as part of the A-Ring Road Development Project which will contribute to enhancing traffic movement and reducing congestion in the areas surrounding the A-Ring Road.
The Public Works Authority will install road signs advising motorists of the diversion. Ashghal requests all road users to abide by the speed limit, and follow the road signs to ensure their safety.
